Later this month, Sanju Samson will go on his first-ever T20 World Cup journey after being selected for the 15-man team for the major competition in the Americas. Samson finally got his break this year in the Indian Premier League, when he excelled for the Rajasthan Royals, following years of patchy appearances and uneven play. Samson, who has amassed 385 runs at a scorching strike rate of 161.08 in nine games, defeated KL Rahul in the competition for jeetbuzz World Cup berths and now shares the position of second wicketkeeper for India with Rishabh Pant.

Still, that was just Samson’s first obstacle. When India begins their tournament campaign, more obstacles lie ahead. With talents like Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube in the middle order, would the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter be able to secure a spot there? If so, where is he going to bat? Samson isn’t too fussed right now, even if they may be the talking topics when Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar face the press conference later on Thursday after the team selection.

Right now, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals is focused on winning the Indian Premier League and guiding his team to success.
When asked if he had a batting position in mind for the start of the highly anticipated worldwide competition, Samson responded, “That’s a very tricky question,” on Star Sports.

“We were obviously considering it; batting positions are on everyone’s mind. Where will Sanju bat, and how is he going to bat? On the other hand, I believe that the team should aim to win the 91 club as well. Winning the IPL is currently more significant. Samson went on, “The players should concentrate only on that objective.

After eight victories in nine games, Samson’s Rajasthan Royals are presently leading the IPL 2024 standings list. They are virtually guaranteed a postseason berth in the competition; RR has been especially reliable the last three years under Samson’s leadership. The Royals made it to the championship game of the 2022 season, when they were defeated by the Gujarat Titans.
